An urban reverie, Okatshe by Chef Jose Garces, is an immersive Japanese concept that pays a heart-felt tribute to the Tokyo he fell in love with.
Reimagined through Chef’s lens, Okatshe channels the city’s energy when the sun dips low, offering an izakaya experience that’s electric & endlessly alive — a reflection of the city’s quiet chaos, maze-like alleys, and neon-lit streetscape.
On the table, the menu parades artful, shareable plates designed for exploration: hand-rolled sushi, sashimi & maki rolls, tender flame-grilled yakitori skewers, and a curated selection of Japanese whiskies, sake, & beers.
Iron Chef, James Beard Award-winner, and a storyteller, Chef Jose Garces is known for his bold, culture-rich concepts spanning Spanish, Latin-American, and now Japanese cuisine.
Okatshe is his long-held vision born from nights spent exploring Tokyo’s magnetic late-night izakayas and candy shops while filming Iron Chef, and years later, with his children in town.
A passionate advocate, Chef Jose Garces is also the founder of The Garces Foundation, his non-profit dedicated to supporting immigrant communities in Philadelphia.
Beyond the kitchen, Garces continues to redefine the chef-life by bringing restaurant-quality experiences to home cooks through virtual classes, cookbooks, and culinary content.
